Abstract

The gaseous plant hormone ethylene is involved in senescence of plant organs, such as fruits, leaves, and
flowers. Application of inhibitors of ethylene biosynthesis or action delays the senescence process, indicating
that ethylene plays an important signaling role in these processes.
